I was reading an article the other day at The Huffington Post that I thought was really interesting. It was called The Young and the Stressful (click HERE to check it out!) and it was about a young professional woman in NYC that one night collapsed on the street out of nowhere. She was terrified and confused and had no idea what happened. It took many tests and checkups, but the doctors eventually figured out that there was nothing actually physically wrong with her…that her blackout session was due to simply TOO MUCH STRESS.
But what I liked most about the article was the message of her story.
She didn’t quit her job and become a meditating monk. She didn’t give up completely on her life. She liked being a professional woman and had no intention of giving up on her ambitions or her career.
Instead, she simply learned how to manage her stress in a healthy way.
The blackout session was her wake-up call – she developed healthier habits, learned how to take better care of herself, and found a balance that worked for her.
I totally loved it.
I have worked with so many women that have experienced a similar situation. They know their current lifestyle isn’t working. They know that stress is a problem. But they just don’t know the first step to change. They simply don’t know how to feel better.
So don’t worry! You don’t have to give up your career. You don’t have to stop being ambitious.
You just need to learn the right strategies to find balance.
The problem these days is that we are inundated with all sorts of information on how to de-stress. Videos, blog, programs, yoga classes, gym incentives…It’s too much! It becomes stressful just trying to navigate how to de-stress!
For example, just think about all of the diet options out there today. How many different diets can you think of off the top of your head? Low fat, no fat, paleo, vegan, vegetarian…ahhhhh! Too many choices, too many experts, too many websites. How are you supposed to know which one is best for YOU?
Good news! That is where I come in…I have been there, I know what it’s like. I am a busy bee. I have also worked with lots of women experiencing the same overwhelm, so I have a lot of experience in the stress management department!
I can help you figure out the best stress management plan that works for YOU. Which foods work best for your body, which type of exercise fits your personality and needs…everything you need to maintain emotional and physical health.
Stay tuned…because this is Part 1 of a 3 part series discussing the different personality types and how each can best manages stress…a nice overview to get you started.
