A Blissful Life: Member Spotlight Series is a chance for us to connect with women in the Blissful Warriors Facebook community about their wellness journey. These women have an inspirational story that led them to their bliss and they want to connect with other women and share their experiences. Please say hello to this month’s member spotlight: Gabrielle Deal  ?

1. Welcome! Please Introduce yourself (and your business if you have one).
Hello! I am Gabrielle Deal, the owner and worker bee of “The Perfect Space by Gabrielle” and a constant work in progress!  I have been a resident of Sarasota for about 23 years, raised two wonderful daughters here, and I always try to embrace Florida living.  Going to the beach to get in touch with nature by feeling the sand under my feet and the wind in my hair is one of my absolute favorite past times.  It is what gets me grounded and brings me back to ground zero when things get too chaotic.

2. Tell us: what does blissful living mean to you?
First thing that always comes to mind when I think of personal bliss is life balance. In order to function daily in blissful living, there has to be just enough of everything.  When there is too much of something in our lives or not enough of it, it seems to have the ability to throw us off physically, metaphysically, or mentally.  It is tricky, because there are many outside elements that we cannot control, so we have to be very in tune with our own mind, bodies, and souls.  It requires checking-in with yourself often to stay on track. It requires taking inventory of your personal limitations or where you might over achieve.  Once you know this, it is much easier to keep yourself in balance.  For me, the feeling when my mind and body are in balance, it is truly pure bliss!

3. Do you have a wellness journey that you would like to share to inspire other women?
During a time when I was a little girl (many moons ago), I had been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and bi-polar disorder. Later in life, I was diagnosed with ADD and OCD.   I have all of these conditions till this day.

There was a time when I was a young adult and my girls were about 5 and 7.  I had spent a year working with some pharmaceutical, prescription drugs that were supposed to “handle” these disorders.  There were way too many side effects to list and I truly didn’t see much difference other than the fact that I didn’t really get to feel anything at all!  That was the only year of my life that I took prescription drugs.  I have been practicing a holistic lifestyle since I was about 22. My very first step was giving up eating meat.  I learned everything I could learn about natural remedies, habits, modalities, yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, etc.  I saw that when I checked-in with myself and kept up with my healthy choices and holistic habits, I can manage my long list of disorders with no problem.   I am now 45 and when I go for my yearly check-ups, my doctors cannot believe that I’m not on any drugs.  It can be done, I am walking proof.

My biggest piece of advice is to just learn and try a little of everything to see what works for you.  There are so many natural approaches we can take to cure disease, heal, and manage our disorders.

4. How do you help other women find bliss in their lives (friend / family / clients)?
I listen with intention.  Every one of us has something we are working on.  This could be internal, external, physical, or mental-but every one of us have something to talk about.  It is one thing to hear the words put out there, but it is something completely different if you are actually listening.  Empathic ears, eye contact, and showing someone that you are truly listening, can make a profound difference in someone’s life.  I believe that hearing is mechanics whereas listening takes us to a heighted level of emotion and understanding.

5. If you have a business / website / wellness passion, tell us what led you to start your business / website / wellness passion?
Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted things to be orderly, organized, lined-up, or categorized by shape and color.  I have always had a knack to take a room that is chaotic and turn it around to order.  I have spent years in office jobs and I have always gotten such compliments of my organizational skills.  It never really felt like it was a skill because it was always just a part of me and what I do.  At my last very toxic, corporate job, I took a long hard look on how most people don’t really have this skill set. Messy desks, unorganized files, and no real sense of organization.   If they did have the skill, it did not seem to be that important to them.  I didn’t really understand because it’s the most important thing to me at every task I perform.  I spent time talking to people and offering to organize their spaces.  Everyone was just so appreciative and did not think they were capable of this task.  I started to then believe that I have a gift!  We all have gifts and I now believe that organizing and helping others is mine.  I want to spend the rest of my life doing something that comes this natural for me as my job. Frankly, I couldn’t be happier with “The Perfect Space”.

6. What routines, habits, beliefs, or other things help you live a blissful life?
Being on time and on task can relieve so much of our anxiety!  However, remember to stay organized the way that feels most comfortable to you.  I believe this is very personal for each of us.  Some individuals are great with keeping all of their contacts and appointments on their iPhones or iPads and are technically savvy.  For me, I always have an old school address book, a write-in yearly calendar, and a pen at my fingertips.  I am a writer and it always feels good for me to write things down.

Being on time for appointments and staying organized will relieve anxiety in this life on conscious and subconscious levels.   There is no right or wrong way to keep your time and appointments organized, but it does have to feel right for you.  If you find a way that works for you, you will be more apt to stay on top keeping yourself on time and on task.

7. Just for Fun: What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I am a retired Licensed Massage Therapist.  It used to be my true life’s work.  I graduated from Sarasota School of Massage Therapy in 1997 and it changed my life. I felt all was right with the world when I was doing massage.  I got a job at a local athletic club, established a great clientele, and went off and had my own traveling massage business.  It was so wonderful to know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!  Unfortunately, I suffered a fall on a tennis court in 2004 and that changed everything. I shattered my wrist in many places and had to get surgery to place a steel plate and screws to keep it all together.  Range of motion in my wrist was no longer.  I had to give up my profession that I loved. I still do some energy work and light touch therapy on friends and family.

I have done so many other jobs since then, but I will forever have a massage therapist’s heart and soul!

8. Do you have anything special you would like to share with my readers?
If you have any questions regarding your visions of your “Perfect Space”, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Living a life with little to no stressors is the goal and my true life’s passion.  I will be happy to discuss this with anyone and everyone that reaches out to me.  Consultations and quotes are free with me because I want to educate where and when I can.   I look forward to hearing from you!

9. And finally, where can we connect with you?
